But Lonavla residents welcome decision to make holiday home owners seek police nod for lawn bash
In Lonavla and Khandala, there are almost 1,500 bungalows owned by influential people from the city and Mumbai. If anyone wants to organise a party on their sprawling lawns on New Year's Eve, they will have to seek permission from the police.
Eight bungalow owners have already approached the police to seek licences to have loudspeakers under Section 36 E and E-A of the Bombay Police Act, 1951.

"If people are planning a party in an open space in public view with music, they should apply for permission," Senior Police Inspector Balraj Lanjile said.
"We have already appealed to people and caretakers are approaching us for necessary permissions on behalf of owners."
Bungalow owners feel the police are playing spoilsports with their demands. They said the police should apply stringent rules only to those who run commercial activities on their properties and spare the others.
Media professional Altaf Darvesh, who owns bungalow in Tungari, said, "This is not right, the police should ban bungalow owners only if they are found running commercial activities on their premises."
Mrs Dilip Kumar, who owns two properties, expressed the same feeling. "The police should have lenient approach as it is just a matter of one day," she said.
Senior member of Lonavla Citizen Forum Renuka Kotak welcomed the police move. "It's a good step to discipline the city and it is important from a security point of view," said Kotak. "Many private bungalows are occupied by unknown people so this step will help keep a tab on them."
