The Guide checked out the latest multi-cuisine restaurant at Wanawadi and had a fiery experience

For someone like me, who is new to the city, trying out different restaurants stirs my taste buds. This week, I decided to try out Atlantis, which was recommended to me by some friends.

On first impression, it seemed neat but a little bare. I headed to Sunset Grill, the non-AC extended terrace with an attractive bar in the centre. Atlantis also has a fine dining eatery called Southern Feast, which specialises in coastal seafood and an in-house lounge Vertigo for those who want to laze around with a drink.

Sunset Grill specialises in world cuisine. On offer are Oriental, Chinese, Thai, Indian and South Indian dishes cooked by individual chefs. For starters, we opted for Mutton Mughlai Sheekh (Rs 230) and Fish Hot Chilli and Sour (Rs 220).

While unwinding to Retro music, we tasted the fish which was a tad spicy but was nevertheless delectable.

Don't miss the Kebabs and Oriental cuisine here, which is highly popular.

We believe the quality of mutton served is the hallmark of a good restaurant and this one was bang on. The Sheekh Kebab was smooth, succulent and tasty. A word of caution is due; for those who do not like spicy food, check with the chef before placing the order. A friend who accompanied me was gulping gallons of water in between biting into the food. (Of course, he loved the food as well).

For the main course, we settled for Appam and Chicken Chettinad (Rs 210). The Appam (Rs 50) was soft and fluffy and the Chettinad was fiery.

The dessert was disappointing. The plate of Jalebis (Rs 120) was not crunchy, even though there was a liberal sprinkling of kesar.

All said and done, Atlantis, which gets its name from an imaginary place that has never been seen, offers value for money cuisine.

On the plus side, their service is impressive. The staff is very courteous and we loved the fact that our orders arrived in a flat 15 minutes.

At: Sacred Heart World, South Block, Wanwadi. CALL: 41056666 / 9665014603. Open alI seven days, from 11 am to 11 pm
