Movie stars in Bangalore feel Volkswagen's newly released Beetle is cute but expensive
Movie stars in Bangalore feel Volkswagen's newly released Beetle is cute but expensive.
Director and actor Ramesh Aravind, who drives a Toyota Corolla, loves the advertising for Vokswagen's new releases the Beetle small car and the Touareg SUV but isn't ready to buy them.
"I like both new cars and their TV spots are fantastic. My son is demanding a Beetle, which is quite nice, but I don't think I will go ahead and buy any now," he said.
At Rs 21.45 lakh in Delhi, most car lovers believe the Beetle is priced on the higher side.
Actress Jennifer Kotwal said, "I personally prefer an SUV, and I think their Touareg is good, but I have no plans of buying it."
Actor Chetan prefers eco-friendly vehicles and feels Volkswagen, planned as a people's car, has become a car just for "rich folks".
"I like the new Beetle but the price is too elite," he told MiD DAY.
Actress Radhika Pandit loves the Beetle but is looking at a bigger car to fit in her full family.
"It is very cute and compact, as the name suggests. It is better than some of the bigger cars, but I don't agree with their pricing," she said.
Up-and-coming actress Aaridra Raj is excited about the Beetle and its iconic looks.
"I was really unhappy with recent cars, which had boring designs, but this Beetle is exclusive and trendy! Yes, it is expensive, but I am ready to take one if someone gives it to me as a gift," Raj said.
Folks' wagons?
Volkswagen (pronounced 'folks wagon') means people's car. But the company's two new releases are aimed, as actor Chetan said, at "rich folks". The Beetle is priced at Rs 21.45 lakh, and the Touareg at Rs 51.85 lakh.
