Government to replicate 'Gujarat Pattern' of development wherein status report of various development works will be put up online for better implementation

Called as the Gujarat Pattern, the initiative was reportedly a huge success in the BJP-ruled state, where stalled projects and other works were quickly revived because of quick information available to local politicians and bureaucrats.

A Mantralaya official requesting anonymity said that local MLAs and corporators in Gujarat were involved by the public who used the online information to follow up on various works. "The Gujarat Chief Minister (Narendra Modi) himself accessed the information to look into some of the developmental projects which led to rapid implementation. A similar model is being implemented here as well where all departments will be involved," said the official.

The request to implement the project was reportedly issued from the Chief Minister's office a few days ago.
Officials are, however, denying the Gujarat connect and claim it is a completely independent initiative.
Rajesh Aggarwal, secretary (IT), said the state has always been ahead in e-governance and the plan would only enhance the already implemented online programmes.

"Another programme being implemented is 'Track Your File' where one can know about the status of a submitted file in any government office," said Aggarwal. "Details such as if the file has been approved or sent to another department for reference can be accessed with the click of a button. Right now the system is only in place in Mantralaya.

Also departments such as public works department, revenue, irrigation, home, education, and health have been regularly updating progress reports of major developmental projects." Both TC Benjamin, urban development secretary, and Rahul Asthana, additional chief secretary, denied knowledge of any such programme.
