An excursion to Lonavala by six students of Symbiosis ended in a tragedy after they met with an accident near the hill station. One of the students died, and three were severely injured.Anirudh Ajeet Singh Kada (18), a first year BBA student from Viman Nagar, lost his life in the accident that took place yesterday at 4.45 am when the picnickers were returning to the city from Lonavala.
Animesh Gupta, Abhishek Singh and Suyash Gupta were identified as the students who suffered heavy injuries. They were admitted to the Lokmanya Hospital in Kamshet.
The police said the accident occurred 10 km from Lonavala."I learnt about the accident when Suyash gave me a call," said Sunil Nahar, a relative of Suyash. "Before reaching the spot I had already called for an ambulance and informed the police.
There were six boys in the car, of which one had already passed away and the others were injured. The ambulance took them to Lokmanya Hospital." Sunil said at this stage nobody was in a position to say exactly how the accident happened.
Speed killed him?
"As soon as I reached the spot, Suyash lost consciousness and the others were also unconscious," said Sunil. "I think the accident happened because of the speed of the car. The car was off the road and must have hit the divider before falling in the gap."
Investigating officer Jalendra Jadav, a head constable at the Kamset police station, said, "The accident happened because the person who was driving fell asleep. We have found that Anirudh was driving. Anirudh is from Rajasthan and came to Pune in July for his education. His body has been sent to his parents in Rajasthan after post-mortem."
Anshul Singh, a family friend of Anirudh, said, "His friends, who are admitted to hospital, can say what exactly happened since I was informed about the accident by one of their relatives. I am shattered by what happened. Anirudh's body has been sent to Kota by flight."
