Baba Ramdev's eviction from the Ramlila Grounds led to protests by students of the nation's two largest varsities
Baba Ramdev's eviction from the Ramlila Grounds led to protests by students of the nation's two largest varsities. About 200 students from Delhi University (DU) and Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) gathered at DU's Faculty of Arts under the Youth against Corruption forum.
Those who joined in the protest were student leaders,u00a0 and members from various student organisations. They also burnt Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in effigy.
"The onslaught on Baba Ramdev's satyagraha by the Congress-led UPA government was a murder of democracy. Why torture common people who have nothing to do in this?" said Sunil Bansal, convenor, Youth against Corruption.
"We strongly disapprove of Ramdev's alliance with Babri Masjid demolishers and communally violent forces. Such an alliance is completely incompatible with the struggle against corruption. But that is no excuse for police brutality," said Vismay Bose, vice-president, AISA at JNU.
