A notice issued on Wednesday spares applicants from having to submit papers that have been verified by special executive officers or gazetted officers for admission to different courses and colleges
Here’s some good news for students who have been braving rain and storm to get their documents attested for admission to various courses. The state govt on Wednesday issued an order, asking the education department to direct educational institutes across the state to accept self-attested copies while receiving admission forms. Admission season finds them running from pillar to post, begging busy officers to sign their documents. Recently, the government decided to introduce a minimum academic qualification for the appointment of the SEO that of an HSC certificate. While approving the proposal, Minister of State for the General Administration Department (GAD) Prof Fauzia Khan recommended self-attestation of documents for the benefit of the students. Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, who heads the GAD, later approved this recommendation.
The state has now asked the additional chief secretary of the school education department, the principal secretary of higher and technical education department and the secretary of the medical education department to implement the decision. The self-attestation will save applicants valuable time during the admission process, and they can submit their original documents for verification while completing the admission process, said a senior government official.
