Might is right? Yediyur corporator N R Ramesh
The students have alleged that the corporator assaulted them for no apparent reason. "We were driving on the main road when the corporator's car sped past us on a parallel road. We did not stop immediately and that enraged him. When we stopped at a juice shop further ahead, he and around seven others got out of his car and assaulted us mercilessly," said L Vinay.
Allegedly assaulted three students for not acknowledging his presence
The three students, all part of the students' wing of the area, claimed that while they were being thrashed, Ramesh even threatened to kill them. "We have admitted one of our friends in hospital because of extensive injuries to his eye and face. The corporator also threatened us saying that he would kill us the next time we refuse to abide by his laws," said R S Mohan, another student.
"We have filed an FIR against the corporator for assaulting these three students. Investigations are on and we hope to arrive at a conclusion shortly," said an official from the Banashankari Police Station.
Not true!
Ramesh, however, denied all allegations and claimed that this was a move by the opposition political parties in the area to defame him. He added that he even wasn't in the area all morning and even if he were, he would never indulge in such activities.
"I was at the Yediyur Lake on inspection along with the BBMP commissioner and Deputy Mayor since the lake is used by people for immersing Ganesha idols and headed home immediately after. I am considered as one of the most qualified corporators in the BBMP and am not a goon to indulge in such activities," Ramesh said.
