Swine flu: One more tests positive
A man who arrived here from San Francisco and quarantined at a city hospital with suspected Swine flu symptoms today tested positive for the disease, taking the number of confirmed cases in Karnataka to three, a senior health official said.
"The passenger whose throat culture samples were sent to the National Institute of Virology (NIV), Pune, has tested positive today and is already being treated at Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Chest Diseases", Health Commissioner Srinivasachari told PTI tonight. He arrived in the city from San Francisco on June 15.
This takes the number of cases in the state who have tested positive for H1N1 flu to three. A 29-year-old woman and her 4-year-old child have earlier tested positive for the flu and are being treated at the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Chest Diseases.
Meanwhile, the NIV has asked for the second samples of two other passengers who arrived in the city on June 14, one from South Korea via Bangkok and another directly from Bangkok, Srinivasachari said. He said the samples of a ground staff of Air France and two other passengers, a Swedish national and an Indian, who arrived at the airport from Thailand and quarantined at the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Chest Diseases, have tested negative and all of them have been discharged.
