The envelopes cannot be opened without damaging them. Will be used by colleges to stop exam paper leaks
In the wake of recent news about leaking of question papers in many colleges-both private and government-demands for 'tamper-evident' envelopes have risen. Till sometime ago, such envelopes were limited to Western countries. Now, many top institutions in the Capital as well as other parts of the country have decided to use these envelopes.
Tamper-evident packaging ensures an envelope carrying important documents cannot be opened without damaging or tearing the envelope. An ordinary envelope can be opened and then sealed again without leaving any evidence.
Claiming that Dynaflex is the first company of its kind in India, managing director Gaurav Vora said, "The envelopes leave a mark if any one tries to tamper. It has been over a year since they were launched in India and the demand, especially from the educational sectors, has been overwhelming."
He said the Dynaflex products have a reliable special security closure and unique sequential number or bar coding, that makes tampering instantly and clearly visible. Vora added, "Tamper-evident packaging material is in wide use in the Western countries. The awareness about the availability and benefits of such products, however, is limited in India."
In great demand
Apart from education sector, these products are in demand in Information Technology, defence and armed forces, police services, finance and passport and visa office, to mail and store confidential documents, among others. Some of the institutions using these envelopes are Sify, Wipro, Gujarat Technical University, Bundelkhand University, regional passport office of Mumbai and Bharati Vidyapeeth University in Pune, among others.
Representative of one of the Delhi-based institutes using them for the last one year said their work simple and tension-free. Paras, exam controller at The Institution of Civil Engineering (India), Delhi said, "We have been using these products for the last one year. The use of these products has widely benefited us in various aspects. Earlier, we used paper envelope with cloth lamination, but the new envelopes are tamper-proof. They save time, are easy to use, and are water and moisture proof."
High security
Globally, not more than 10-15 companies manufacture high security tamper-evident bags and envelopes, which are used to send passports, diplomatic papers, cash, evidence and so on. The infrastructure required to assure the reliability is difficult in terms of machinery, standards, people and technology.
These envelopes come in different shapes and sizes and are manufactured in high strength opaque grey or clear film of 75-100 microns. It has a unique sequential number or bar coding on it.
