On a random outing to a mobile store, we chanced upon a colourful new cafe which seemed to be attracting quite a lot of crowd. We got curious and that's how we found Cafe Gup Shup. 
They call themselves "A converse corner" and we can understand why. You can head here with a bunch of friends, order a few snacks and beverages and laze around for hours without spending exorbitantly. It has already turned into a haven for students on a shoe-string budget.
The interiors are painted in pastel colours and seem welcoming. As a sweet touch, every table has a vase filled with fresh roses, and there are colourful lamps lit in corners. Water is served in cheerful bright orange glasses and their tables have pretty pebble designs on them.
The kitchen is located alongside and a passing glance reveals a young staff. In fact most of them are college students.
On the weekend we visited, there was a single attendant manning the crowded place. Noticeably, he was distracted and kept rushing off to deliver orders while taking down our order. The cafe has been around for six months but was shut for a long while due to renovation and opened again recently.
Perhaps, that's why most of the interesting items on the menu were unavailable. The colourful menu is divided into five categories, namely Ice Tea, Munchings, Maggi, Burgers and Sandwiches. The menu itself was quite colourful and had cheesy quotes jotted at the bottom of each page, such as "True friendship is never serene". Most college students hanging around us would probably agree.
We started by ordering a Vanilla Crush (Rs 40), Black Currant Ice Tea (Rs 30) and Cheese Fingers (Rs 45). The Vanilla Crush was passable while the Ice Tea was too sweet for our liking. The crisp Cheese Fingers tasted delicious and were lapped up in no time. The Cutlet Burger (Rs 40) was average, we've had better.
The Cheese Chilli Toast (Rs 30) was tasty and just right. Then came the bane of the evening -- Curry Maggi (Rs 30), which was watery and tasteless. The spices were sprinkled right on top and we realised how easy it is to go wrong even with something as basic as noodles. All in all, we love the energetic vibe the place has but wish they pull up their socks to go the extra mile.
