Silver Spoon or Silver Lining? There's no telling. What is pretty evident is that the guys running D Ultimate club at Andheri, want us to know that they have a fine dining area which you won't be able to locate until you ask around, since they can't quite decide between the two names. A restaurant has always existed here, but it's got a new name and identity, the management insists.

Dark wood tables matched with silver cushioned chairs, dim lighting, silver wallpaper, instrumental music gushing "Aye mere humsafar" from QSQT... "ek zara intezaar" we almost rushed out. No intezar please, just good food. Thank you.

On The Menu: With cocktails called Black Widow and Fred Frud Pucker, we decided we weren't going to play safe, and ordered a Pink Pussycat (Rs 250) and a Green Envy (Rs 125). The Pussycat was saccharine sweet, best avoided after a few forced sips. Green Envy's khus flavour excited
our tastebuds.

A Pollo Pieprez starter (Rs 240) cooked with Pitu Cachaca (Brazilian liquor) in an Emmenthal cheese sauce, gave the peppery chicken a likeness to Stroganoff; just less creamy. The Argentinean Nicoise Salad (Rs 240) had deep fried, and very crisp bacon slices tossed in Chimichurri dressing (herbs bound in olive oil and vinegar), served with Arugula (Mediterranean edible plant). Lovely.

Our main course included Jambalaya (Rs 350); a chicken-prawn paprika spaghetti slightly on the spicier side of the American coast. Jambalaya, we asked, is an American dish. Ha-ha-Hawaii, we are guessing.

Service: Pronto, the waiter taking our order was helpful with information since we wanted to try only the most difficult sounding dishes on the menu. Pieprez, Nicoise, Jambalaya, what have you! Food was served quick; we were the only ones there. Actor Madhavan sat beside us, helping himself to a Mediterranean Salad, which, by his own admission, he loved so much that he "licked the bowl". But that we chose not to capture on camera.

Serving: A portion of every dish we ordered, is adequate for two; your bill will touch a grand for a 3-course meal. Try the Tiramisu for dessert if you must dip your tongue in sweet. We didn't bother, we were too full. Skip the ambience and music, the food will do all the talking. And if you insist, they just might serve you with a Silver Spoon!

At: D Ultimate, Crystal Plaza, Oberoi Chambers, New Link Road, Andheri (W).

Silver Lining didn't know we were there. WHAT's ON reviews anonymously and pays for meals
