Art is what art does. Explore the world of art beyond the canvas in this week-long art affair and see how your world gets colourful, sans the colourful flowers your spouse sends out. With informative sessions by art experts, short films and canvasses on display, this art melange is one that won't come back for a long time. March 2, 6 pm

Speaker session and screening of short films

Are you an avid art collector, interested in buying your first piece or just interested in the people who do? Lend an ear to Bangalore's gallery directors and curators, discuss the pros and cons of buying art at the Speaker sessions. Don't miss this chance of rubbingu00a0 shoulders, or must we say, rubbing those brush strokes with famed artists and curators of the likes of Suresh Jayaram, Neha Jiandani, Curator and Manager, Gallery Blue Spade, Vivek Poonacha, Director Maya Art Gallery, Sara Arakkal, Curator and Director, Galerie Sara Arakkal, Renu George, Director Gallery Time And Space and art historian and consultant, Lina Vincent Sunish.u00a0

Art is not only about canvas and paint as this festival proves on Tuesday evening. UB City mall plays host to Art Bengaluru's very own film festival, screening five short films from Bangalore's filmmakers.u00a0

The first film is a documentary by Paresh Hazra, followed by footage in 8mm entitled 'These Old Frames' by Tahireh Lal. Smriti Mehra brings us 'Neerinakallu', whilst the vignette 'Dead Beat' was shot at one of Bangalore's oldest meat markets, the final film, by Jyotika, 'Samvada' (Conversations) involves small site construction workers and their families in Bangalore.


March 3, 11.30 am onwards
Budding artists from leading art schools of Bengaluru

Encouraging expression and promoting new talent are the aim of the day for Wednesday as the mall courtyard turns into an exhibition space for two of the cities schools. Senior students from Chitrakala Parishath School and Ken School of Art will be displaying artwork and sculptures for public viewing.


March 4, 7.30 pm
A fashion palette

The finale of the week comes in the form of a fashion show that connects fashion with art from start to finish. For the last night, the amphitheatre will be completely taken over with every part of the show designed to unite the elements that have been on show throughout the week. Executed by Prasad Bidapa, it is not only the Bangalorean designers' garments and accessories that are set to stun, large sculpture installations, creative backdrops, even the decor and ramp have been designed to make this a truly artistic extravaganza.
