Drop in at the youth theatre festival's orientation meeting to find out how you can be part of the annual event
Thespo, the festival that gets young theatrewallahs from around the country excited, enters its 11th year this December, and preparations are already on. There are tonnes of ways to get involved with the festival, as a performer, scriptwriter, musician, graphic artist or volunteer, say the organisers. Figure out where you can fit in, at an orientation meeting being that's scheduled for this Saturday.
Thespo 11's activities began by inviting poster art from graphic artists. "It's our way to get artists involved with theatre. The best designs will be displayed at Prithvi Theatre," says Quasar Thakore Padamsee, founder member of QTP, the group behind the fest. A poster-making competition where winners will design posters for the final play line-up is on the agenda too.
The theme this year is "The Other Side of Theatre" Quasar explains, "We are looking at different relationships that theatre forms, different forms of theatre itself, and different areas of theatre. So, the next thing that we will do after the orientation session, is conduct a workshop on the connection between the martial art form Ninjitsu and theatre."
The orientation session is an open forum where all those who wish to participate get to interact with the organisers. Anyone under 25 years can participate.
