The new eatery Tiger Trail at Royal Orchid has an interesting history behind its name. It is inspired by the owner's visit to the Sundarbans, where he went on a tiger trail and heard stories about a famous man-eating tiger. He was eager to catch a glimpse of it but the animal kept eluding him. It was only when he had almost given up and left that he finally spotted it. The eatery gets its name from that thrilling experience.

USP: Apart from the regular dishes, the eatery serves popular dishes from tiger sanctuaries all over the country.

Ambience: Being an open-hearth restaurant located on the terrace, it is perfect for a visit during the breezy summer nights. There is an open kitchen on one end and dark wooden tables and chairs dot the place giving it an elegant look. They also have a lounge bar called Mix and a 24-hour coffee shop named Pinxx.

Tiger Trail at Kalyani Nagar

We tried: The Murgh Achari Tikka (Rs 275) we ordered for the starter was served within 10 minutes. It is a dish usually prepared in Madhya Pradesh's Kanha tiger reserve. Made from chicken marinated in pickled spices and yoghurt, it looks interesting and tastes just as good. The Tikka had a spicy and pickled flavour, which we loved.
However, we would have appreciated meatier chicken pieces. For the main course, we opted for the Dekchi Murgh, a chicken curry from Rajasthan (Rs 275) and Butter Naan (Rs 35). The chicken curry was tasty but lame as compared to the yummy Tikka. It was marinated in yoghurt and prepared using Rajasthani masala. The gravy should have ideally been less diluted and the six tiny pieces of chicken in the curry didn't do justice to the price at all.

Service: The attendants are prompt and attentive and since, the place was half-empty, we enjoyed their undivided attention.
