The probe into the murder of Ramesh Dedhia (30), whose body was found on Sunday, has revealed that the girl, whose name is withheld, was allegedly raped by the victim for over one-and-a-half years, sources in crime branch said today.u00a0

According to them, Dedhia used to sexually exploit his wife's niece, who had been staying with his family, after her mother remarried.

"On Saturday night, Dedhia called up the girl, asking her of her whereabouts. She told him that she was at the Manori beach when he told her to wait there. In the meantime, she called up her friends Mohsin Sheikh and Deepak Bhosale to the beach," said a crime branch official.

When Dedhia reached the spot, he became furious after seeing Sheikh and Bhosale, as he wanted her to meet the girl alone. Sheikh and Bhosale then attacked Dedhia and smashed his head with stones. They then destroyed his cell phone, threw the pieces near the body and fled the scene.

"Through Dedhia's call records, we reached the girl and questioned her, after which she broke down and confessed. Through her statement, we set a trail to nab Sheikh and Bhosale, and after receiving a tip off, we picked them up from the Malwani area. They were subsequently placed under arrest as well," the official added.
