"She was shot in the arm, we provided initial treatment in the emergency department and later shifted her to the surgical ward," said a senior doctor of Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH). A large crowd of transgenders gathered at KTH following the incident.
Deedar told DawnNews that she was visiting the house of her alleged attacker, Shahid, for her money which was loaned to him when she was attacked. She said that Shahid not only refused to return the loan, but also subjected her to torture.
The president of Shemale Association of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Farzana, demanded protection for her community and added that they felt insecure. This is the sixth reported case of violence against trans people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa this year.
Earlier this year, transgender Alisha who was shot eight times allegedly by a disgruntled customer succumbed to her wounds at Peshawar's Lady Reading Hospital (LRH).
