After just a few days of students protesting against the authorities regarding admission policy, the Ramjas College is embroiled in yet another controversy. And this time, the protagonists include none other than the vice-principal, admission committee convener and Delhi University and College Karamchari Union (DUCKU) president.

Vice-principal PN Dutta Gupta has accused a lab assistant of the college for outraging the modesty of his daughter in an inebriated condition. In addition, he has also accused three non-teaching staff members of threatening him and hatching criminal conspiracy against him.
Bone of contention
Reportedly, admission committee convener PK Malhotra, on the advice of principal and vice-principal, prepared a duty chart for college staff. The chart was distributed on 15 June. Lab assistant, Chand Ram, however objected to the schedule accorded to him.
"Chand refused to follow the circular signed by principal and vice-principal. Not only that, he followed Malhotra to his office and asked him not to assign him any more work or he will shoot him dead. Dutta Gupta then got a call from another lab assistant Rajpal, who said if any action was taken against him, Chand and administrative official Sudhanshu, the authorities will have to face dire consequences. Dutta Gupta then complained to the principal," said a police official.
Complaint to police
After principal Dr Rajender Prasaad received the written complaint against the trio, he lodged a complaint at the Maurice Nagar police station. Chand was instantly suspended from the college. On June 17, Dutta Gupta received another threat call.
"Rajpal called me and said he is DUCKU president and not any ordinary lab assistant. He again threatened me but the police did not take any action till June 30," alleged the vice-principal. On July 1, Dutta Gupta lodged another complaint alleging Chand, along with a police official Mukesh Kumar, barged into his office without permission, on the pretext of inquiring about the complaint filed by him.
The misbehaviour
Dutta Gupta further alleged that when he did not take back his complaint, on the night of July 3, Chand went to his house in an inebriated condition and misbehaved with his daughter. "He threatened her and asked her to convince me to take the complaint. My daughter then called my son who lives in Gurgaon. A call to the PCR was also made but the police reached four hours after the incident. My son had already reached by then," claimed Dutta Gupta. "Luckily I was home. I don't understand why the police are not taking any action against him and his associates," he added.
The Other Side
Meanwhile, DUCKU president Rajpal denied all allegations and said, "I have helped the vice-principal so many times. When his wife was ill, I donated blood for her. I paid his medical bills, when he was under financial troubles. Why would I threaten him? The principal and vice-principal are falsely implicating us."
