Mohammed Ilyas (44), and his relative Mohammed Sanawar (40), had come to the city from Saharanpur, near New Delhi and were apprehended before managing to sell the substance.

Police revealed that Ilyas had purchased the charas from Banu, a woman in Saharanpur, and he and Sanawar contacted Nasir and Mahboob of Chittoor and Chintamani respectively, to sell the drugs.
As per their advice, they arrived in the city and stayed in a lodge in Kalasipalyam, while Nasir and Mahoob were sourcing prospective clients to sell the drug.
Based on a tip-off, a police team led by Assistant Commissioner of Police R Lakshman raided the lodge and nabbed the duo.

Based on their information, Nasir and Mahboob were also arrested and were booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
