"Senior Accounts Officer of Government of national capital territory, Ajay Vatan, and Upper Divisional Clerk posted at Tibbia College, Dinesh Chittoria, were arrested for misappropriating more than Rs 23 lakh during their posting from 1998 to 2002," a senior police official from Anti Corruption Branch said.
The duo misappropriated a part of revenue, Rs 23 lakh, collected through sub-registrars and others before depositing in the treasury by forging the records, he said.
They have also embezzled the funds for flood and fire relief by making double payments for sundry expenses like transport etc from the government funds, the official said.
The arrests were made following the registration of a case by additional district magistrate S K Jha. It was charged that Rs 50 lakh were misappropriated by the two officials and others during 1996 to 2002.
