Two men were taken in to custody on Tumkur road near Chikkabidarkal around 12.10 am for stopping a police vehicle and arguing with the police officer.

Sorry! Jayanna who stopped ASI Nagesh was drunk and surprised the
officer by his brash behaviour

A fight broke out between a group close to a bar near Tukur Road at around 12 am. The beat policemen came and chased these people away. Unknown to them, ASI Nagesh was on his usual night round in his vehicle.

After driving for a while, he noticed a group standing below the flyover in Chikkabidarkal and stopped his vehicle. He told the group that they should not hang around the place, as it was dangerous, and many robberies had taken place there.

"As I was talking to them, a vehicle swung in front of my vehicle, blocking my way. A man holding a cigarette approached me, followed by four others. This man started questioning me about who I was and what was I doing there. I was a little surprised at his brash attitude," said Nagesh.

"I removed my jacket and told them that I was a police officer. The change in his attitude was dramatic. One of them, who was later identified as Jayanna got down on his knees and started begging me to let him go.

I realised he was drunk," added Nagesh. The othersu00a0 three ran away when they saw these new developments.
By this time people had gathered, and a couple identified Jayanna. They requested the officer to let him free.

Instead, Nagesh took him to Madanayakanahalli police station. "People like these should be taught a lesson. He should give me in writing that he won't repeat something like this again," said Nagesh.
