The police said it was a case of death due to rash driving, while family members of one of the deceased have alleged murder by one of the survivors. The deceased were identified as Rijwan (26) and Monty (17), and the injured were identified as Nitin and Ashish, all four being residents of Dakshinpuri area of south-east Delhi. Police said they received the PCR call about the incident around 2 am.
"All four were riding on one bike. They were passing through Barapulla flyover when they lost balance over the vehicle. The bike collided with the railing and they were thrown off. Rijwan fell outside the railing in an eight-foot deep sewerage. Monty fell on the other side and received severe injuries. All the four were taken to AIIMS trauma Centre where Rijwan and Monty were declared dead on arrival, while Nitin and Ashish were discharged after first aid," a police official said.
Killed for cash?
Afsar Ali, elder brother of Rijwan, says his brother was murdered by Ashish, who took him along on the pretext of visiting a fair. He alleged that his brother was murdered for the Rs 11,000 cash that he was carrying at the time of the incident.
"It is strange that Ashish and Nitin did not suffer severe injuries while my brother Rijwan got killed. The police are not revealing details about his injuries. It is shocking that he fell in the eight-foot deep sewerage near the incident spot while Ashish and Nitin escaped grievous injuries," alleged Afsar Ali.
Dalip Singh, the grieving father of Monty (second deceased), said Ashish had called his son to visit Kalkaji temple, and the next day he heard the news of his son's death. Police said they are looking into the matter. They have denied the allegations leveled by Rijwan's family as of now.
