While Mumbai police is still searching for clues in the J Dey murder case, senior journalists from across the nation came together on a single platform yesterday to discuss the rise in attacks on scribes in different parts of the country. The panel discussion 'Shooting the messenger' was organised by Federation for Media Professionals in the Capital on Thursday.u00a0
According to statistics, around 184 journalists were attacked in the last two years in Mumbai alone. Since January 26, four scribes, including women, have been under attack. Keeping such statistics in mind, Jatin Desai, chairperson, Bombay Union of Journalists, said: "The state is not serious in investigating J Dey's assassination. We have no faith in the local police and the CID so we want CBI enquiry into the matter."
"J Dey has been a journalist for two decades. It was not only a loss to the media fraternity but also to the nation. It's been 13 days and the entire newsroom is shocked. Our disappointment is the investigating agency could not narrow down on the cause of death. So far there is no headway," said MiD DAY Executive Editor, Sachin Kalbag.
