In a bid to reduce the corruption in the exam department, the University of Pune (UoP) has hit upon a novel idea. UoP has decided to prepare a bank of questions for all subjects that will be available online and the question paper would be set from this set of questions.

R K Shevgaonkar, vice-chancellor, UoP said that the idea is still in its nascent stage but is definitely one project that the varsity hopes to complete by the end of the year.
He added that the selection of questions would be on random selection basis through computerised software.
"The advantage is that even if somebody alleges that a question paper has been leaked then we can have another one in a matter of few seconds. And there is no way anyone would be aware of it as it is going to be a random selection of questions through online software. It will reduce incidents of paper leaks and also unnecessary allegations," he said.
Asked how the staffers had reacted to the idea, he said that there were some initial reservations. "Firstly, people say that they are already overworked to sit and come up with a thousand questions. Secondly, they say that it will make students life easier as they can solve question bank online and not study the rest. If a student is brilliant enough to solve thousand questions, we don't have to worry. Though there may be reservations, I am confident of finding a way out," he said.
