Vetal Tekdi ARAI test track work stayed

Deputy Director Avinash Patil from the Town Planning Department yesterday stayed the construction work for a laboratory and vehicle testing track for the Automotive Research Association of India at Vetal Tekdi in the city.
A hearing that had a total of 3,900 objections raised by residents of the city made Patil announce the stay on the construction work.

Veteran environmentalist and founder of Vanrai Dr Mohan Dharia expressed his happiness over the stay order. He said Vetal Tekdi and all the other hillocks in and around the city were the "oxygen cylinders" of the city and any kind of human interference that would spoil these should not be allowed.
