Stop by the science exhibition by Manu Prem School today, for an insight into the untapped talent of differently abled children

Principal of Manu Prem School, Priya Shah, is giving last-minute instructions before the school's science exhibition, which will display projects made by students. The projects on display at the science exhibition make for an impressive list.

Students present a project to control the effects of pollution

There's 17 year-old Akash Kataria whose projects range from a robot car and a sensor car that runs on black lines to a power lift, a solar train and a detective car that comes with a camera. Other interesting projects include a Grameen Sheetal (a refrigerator that works on the laws of evaporation) and a solar cooker, created by a group of secondary kids. There's another project that recreates an oil spill and provides a solution. The growing concern over pollution is also tackled where suggestions to control the problem are spelt out by participating students.

The school
Founded in 1983 by Smita Narendra Mehta, Manu Prem School caters to children with learning disabilities, and those with ADD (attention deficit disorder) or ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder). The non-profit organization is run under the auspices of the Manu Prem Trust. The school offers remedial education along with coaching for the National Institute of Open Schooling Board Examinations. It has levels from Pre-Primary to Senior Secondary (XII). The teacher to student ratio is 1:5. One hopes that initiatives like this will further the cause of the school's focus on holistic development
