If you've been to Mumbai, you would know that nightlife in Delhi sucks bigtime. Yes, there are signs of improvements but still it hasn't reached a level worth boasting. Now if your girlfriend insists on having a molten chocolate cake at four in the morning, do you really think you'll able to help her pacify the craving? We doubt, no more.

The ambience here adds to your experience

With the opening of 1440, the dream of unwinding during the unusual hours of the day has been realised. And the best thing is that it doesn't cost a bomb, we found out during our recent visit.

A friend in graveyard shift
When I used to work at a call centre in Gurgaon a few years back, it was almost a 'mission impossible' to find an eatery where you can have decent food (leave aside the desire to dine at a swish place). And I hated the idea of dining at round-the-clock joints at stations (too crowded and poor quality) and five-star properties (because I wasn't paid enough to spend the whole month's salary on one night).

But probably the hoteliers who were at that time unsympathetic towards people who work so late at night, are now waking up to their needs. 1440 is a testimony to that. Where else would you see top-notch corporates meeting and greeting each other at midnight?

What a start!
Every restaurant has a defining problem. At some it is parking, to other its approach, some are not well connected and others are too crowded.

On that front, 1440 enjoys a lot of advantages. Firstly, it's located in the premises of Hotel Vikram in Moolchand. We started on a 'high' note with a range of scotches, vodkas and rums (indeed the pegs were small. Else we wouldn't have remembered the night).

The bar here has a wide array of scotches, liquors, cocktails, mocktails and shakes. There's something for everyone. The ambience adds to the magic of wonderful sips. You can either sit inside the close area or brave the chill in the outdoor seating area. The staff will help you with blowers and chimneys to make it as hot as possible.

But once you're a few pegs down, do you really feel the harshness of the winter breeze? I didn't. But what really hold you are the hookah flavours like dhinchaak pan, cappuccino, mischief, pirate's choice and many more. Plus they serve these great flavours with different bases like that of beer, wine base and juice, which is something really innovative.

Khane ka khazana
With the best options from Continental, Chinese and Mughlai cuisines, the menu looks intelligent and encapsulates almost everything that foodies would usually ask for. Here, a family would enjoy as much as a couple or a group of friends would.

We would recommend Barra kabab, Cottage cheese steak, Tandoori mushroom and Garlic bread for starters, Dal makhni, Malai kofta and Hyderabadi chicken biryani for main course. A special midnight menu is on the cards that starts at midnight to 6 am and is followed by an elaborate breakfast buffet till 10.30 am. Say good bye with molten chocolate cake. Yummmmmmmy ki suno.
