Mohan Raj, who works in a call centre, met S Latha (names changed) through one of his friends. The friendship soon blossomed in love. Mohan proposed to her and since he knew that his parents wouldn't allow a marriage, he decided to elope with her.
Strangely, it was Latha's parents, who without considering Mohan's age helped the couple to go to Chennai, and even arranged their marriage on Christmas day. Meanwhile, Mohan's anxious parents searched for him, and found that he had married, and was living with his in-laws' house in Basavanagar.
When his parents went to meet him, he not only refused to come with them, but also abused them, and asked them to leave him alone. The heartbroken parents rushed to the HAL police, seeking their help. Based on the complaint, the police summoned Mohan and his in-laws, who finally agreed to send him back to his parents.
After counseling both the parties, the police called the marriage off, since Mohan is a minor. "We have taken undertaking from both Mohan and his in-laws that they won't bother each other until Mohan attains the marriageable age," said a sub-inspector who is looking into the case.
