The deceased has been identified as Harubai Narayan Ghule, a resident of Manjri. Her 22-year-old son Digambar has lodged the compliant against unknown persons in this regard.

According to the police, on Tuesday morning, Harubai was at her house when a teenager called out to her. The boy told Harubai that some animal had entered their farm. When Harubai proceeded to her farm, an unknown person came towards her and flung chilly powder in her eyes. The person then tied her hands and legs and hit her on the head with a big stone. The person then snatched the mangalsutra and other gold ornaments weighing 60 grams from her body.

The attack came to light after Harubai was found lying unconscious in her farm by her relatives later in the evening. She was rushed to the hospital where she was in a critical condition, but after battling for her life she passed away yesterday.

“The motive behind the murder is not clear yet. Gold bangles weighing 40 grams were found intact on the hand of the deceased woman. So, we are considering all angles while investigating the case,” said police inspector Raghunath Jadhav.

Police are also not certain of the number of people involved in the gruesome crime. u00a0
