Woman slain over property issues

A 45-year-old woman was murdered last night killed at Peenya 2nd stage around 11 pm.

Clueless

The police are clueless about murder of K Lakshamma, who owned over 60 commercial complexes and other
properties.

But the investigations might take a different angle, as her daughter Sunita is adamant that the accused are not outsiders but her own father and brother.

She used to earn over Rs 3 lakh per month as rent from her properties. She was single handedly taking care of the business and every month she used to collect rent money herself.

Rocky roads

Lakshamma married Krishnamurthy 28 years ago and had two children. But recently the husband and wife started having problems in their marriage from the past two years.

They went to court and applied for a divorce. Lakshamma asked for compensation from her husband but he refused to give, saying she was much richer than him. The case is still in court.

Krishnamurthy, an excise inspector, working in Chikkaballapur was living with another woman, Mala since one year.

To carry on his illicit relationship with Mala, he decided to leave Lakshamma and permanently shifted to Mala's house.

Creating rifts

Krishnamurthy forcibly performed his son's inter-caste marriage and succeeded in developing differences between him and Lakshamma.

Krishnamurthy used to repeatedly ask Lakshamma for his share from the rent that she used to earn. When Lakshamma refused to give the money, he used to send his son to collect the amount.

But relatives of Lakshamma were also against Krishnamurthy and didn't let him take money from her.

Recently, Lakshamma got her daughter Sunita married to her brother.

Lakshamma used to go to her daughter's house every day for lunch and her daughter used to have dinner at her place. This irked Krishnamurthy and his son.

Plans hatched

When MiD DAY contacted Sunita, she said, "No doubt my mother has been killed by my father and my brother. They have been constantly having quarrels with us from the past one year."

"They used to repeatedly ask for documents of the complexes and the other properties.

When my mother refused to part with the documents, they planned to kill her. My father is living with another lady and she is also involved in this murder," she added.

The police officials denied to comment on Krishnamurthy's involvement in the murder.

Rajagopal Nagar PI Poorna Chandra Tejaswi said, "We don't want to blame anybody unnecessarily. If her husband and son are involved, no doubt we will take proper actions."
