Patna: A woman in Bihar Wednesday turned to mobile messenger service WhatsApp to lodge a complaint against a police officer for an alleged molestation bid and to send his picture. The police officer was later suspended.

Patna Senior Superintendent of Police Jitendra Rana said he suspended the police officer after the woman used WhatsApp to register a complaint.

"It is the first case of this nature in Patna when a woman used WhatsApp to lodge a complaint related to molestation," Rana said.

According to the complaint, the officer allegedly harassed the woman and forced her to share her mobile number with him during the incident near Patna railway station.

"She informed us that her friend used her mobile phone to capture a picture of the accused police officer. Later, they used WhatsApp to report the matter to Rana and sent the picture of the officer for action," a district police officer said.
