We headed down there for a gruelling hour long training session which, needless to say raised quite a bit of a sweat.

Initially, I was put on a fitness test that included ten minutes of running and holding a conversation (and passed with flying colours) on the Cybex trainers that were smooth to run on and easy to navigate.

We moved over to the weights and muscle tone department to do a series of strength-building exercises for core muscle groups including: abdominal, biceps, triceps, hamstrings and quadriceps.

My trainer recommended 30 repetitions of each core group, noting that you must always challenge your weights to make sure your muscles don't become complacent.

Ben's also takes a scientific approach to their work "We start with a full in-depth body analysis of the person and then develop a full exercise and diet plan customised to their needs which can be either weight loss, muscle gain or better fitness.

We then check in monthly with them and tally their goals to make sure they keep on track," says Avaneesh Gupta, Gym Manager. All the lead instructors at the gym are also physiotherapists so they can work around injuries or problems to still deliver the same goal.

Group classes are available too where even the laziest gym-goer will be motivated to burn those extra calories with energetic aerobics, kick boxing or high-intensity dancing. There's also yoga if you want some more variety in your fitness regime.

The catch

Ben's monthly pricing schedule will take a hit out of your pay packet if you can afford it. The machinery, group class membership and qualified physiotherapist trainers don't come cheap so if you plan to use these sporadically then you may not get your money's worth.
