The man was identified as Lakhan Jaipal Tusam (22), a resident of Chaphekar Nagar on Ganeshkhind road. Police constable Ishwar Andhale of the Chatuhshrungi traffic division has lodged an FIR against Tusam.
The citizen, who alerted traffic cops about this incident, has claimed that Tusam had also threatened him when he had refused to pay the Rs 10.
Police Constable said Andhale was regulating traffic at the Suryamukhi temple junction when some citizens alerted Police Sub-Inspector Sanjay Patange about the illegally running 'Pay and Park' scheme in the lane next to the Central Mall.
Acting on the information received, PSI Patange and his staff visited the spot. They observed that Tusam was charging Rs 10 from customers of the Central Mall and was running an illegal Pay and Park scheme on the road. Tusam has been cheating citizens and also the government as he does not have the required permission to charge parking fees, said Andhale.
