Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday reviewed the prevailing security threats from global terror groups, narco-terrorism, organised crime-terror nexus and movement of foreign terrorists at a high-level meeting held in North Block.

At the meeting, the Home Minister stressed upon the need for better coordination and synergy among the Central and state security agencies in countering the ever-changing counter-terrorism and security challenges.

This was the first such high-level meeting chaired by Shah in the New Year, which was attended by the top officials of the country's security and intelligence apparatus.

The Ministry of Home Affairs said in a statement, "Union Home Minister Amit Shah conducted a high-level security meeting today to review the prevailing threat scenario in the country and the emerging security challenges."

During the high-level meeting, a detailed deliberation was made on the continued threats of terrorism, global terror groups, terror financing, narco-terrorism, organised crime-terror nexus, illicit use of cyber space, movement of foreign terrorists etc.

The sources in the ministry said that the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir was also discussed with special focus on infiltration and pushing of contrabands from the hostile neighbouring country on the western border.
