A Delhi government official, who is accused of raping a minor several times and impregnating her, was detained on Monday, cops said. Police also apprehended his wife, who had given the girl abortion pills. The statement of the girl, who is Std XII now, is also being recorded, cops said. Meanwhile, the Delhi government on Monday suspended Premoday Khakha, who was the deputy director of the Women and Child Development department.

The accused allegedly raped the girl several times between November 2020 and January 2021, when she moved with the couple after her father’s death on October 1, 2020, police said. The girl returned home with her mother in January 2021. The incident came to light when the mother took her to a hospital in August this year following an anxiety attack.
