The seasoned political figure, who played a pivotal role in the freedom struggle, was undergoing treatment for complications arising from fever and cold at Apollo Hospital in Chennai.

Upon receiving news of his demise, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin paid his respects by visiting Apollo Hospital. The mortal remains of N Sankaraiah will be kept at the CPI(M) Office before being taken to his residence, marking the end of an era in Tamil Nadu's political landscape.
In a post on social media, the Tamil Nadu Communist Party of India (Marxist) commemorated Comrade N. Sankaraiah's life, stating, "Comrade N. Sankaraiah (102), a centenarian Tamilian, passed away. He will live with us forever as a struggle history! Kudos to the friend!"
