A 75-year-old priest, who used to live in the guise of Goddess Kali, wearing sari and bangles, was found murdered on the premises of a temple in Dhaknagla village under the jurisdiction of Islamnagar police station in Badaun on Saturday.

As per a report in India Today, the deceased, identified as Jai Singh Yadav, popularly known as 'Sakhi Baba', was associated with the temple for the past 20 years. The accused, Ramveer Yadav, is absconding.

On Saturday, Yadav had come to meet Sakhi Baba in the temple and an argument ensued between them. Suddenly, Yadav took out a knife and stabbed the victim before fleeing from the temple. The villagers tried to capture the accused but he escaped.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sankalp Sharma said the body of the victim has been sent for post-mortem examination. He said Sakhi Baba used to live alone in a thatched hut on the temple premises.
