'Lesbian vampire killer' granted parole

A woman dubbed as the 'lesbian vampire killer', who was sentenced to life in prison after murdering a father-of-five and drinking his blood, is due to be released from jail within weeks.

In a statement, Corrective Services Minister Neil Roberts said that Wigginton was eligible to make an application for parole and her application had been granted.

"I am advised that this offender was eligible to make an application for parole. The independent Parole Board considered, and granted, the application," the Brisbane times quoted Roberts as saying.

Tracey Avril Wigginton was 24 years old when she was jailed in 1991, after pleading guilty in the Supreme Court in Brisbane to the slaying of council worker Edward Baldock.

Wigginton along with her lesbian lover and another female couple lured a drunk Baldock into their car before taking him to Orleigh Park, in the inner-city Brisbane suburb of West End.

In the early hours of October 21, 1989, Wigginton stabbed him 27 times before drinking his blood.u00a0
