The accident occurred early morning in Zhongfang county after a truck rammed into the coach coming from opposite side of the Shanghai-Kunming expressway, Xinhua quoted city government's spokesperson as saying.u00a0
Nine people died at the accident site and four others died while being rushed to the hospital, the spokesperson added. The coach was carrying passengers from Fujian province.
Rescuers had to dismantle the mangled bus to extricate trapped passengers. Besides, the icy rain and the lack of stretchers also hampered the rescuers' efforts.u00a0Total number of bus passengers could not be immediately known.u00a0
