At least 20 people were killed and 50 others injured on Saturday in two back-to-back blasts that struck a camp set up for those displaced by anti-militancy operations in northwest Pakistan.

The nature of the explosions at the Kuccha Pakka relief camp, located 30 kms from Hangu city in North West Frontier Province, could not immediately be ascertained. The second blast occurred when a large number of people had gathered to remove bodies and help the injured after the first explosion, reports reaching here said, adding the twin blasts left 20 people dead and 50 others injured.

Security forces cordoned off the area and an emergency was declared in hospitals. About 300 internally displaced people were living in the relief camp. The blasts came a day after a suicide bomber struck a hospital in the southwestern city of Quetta, killing 11 people and injuring 40 others.

The bomber struck when a large number of Shias had gathered at the hospital to protest against the killing of a Shia banker, who was shot by unidentified gunmen.
