Even as the uproar over Alfie Patten (13) becoming a dad fails to die in the UK, school kids Samantha Humphries (15) and Daniel Sargent (16) are parents of premature babies

The babies were conceived when Samantha Humphries was 14, and her boyfriend Daniel Sargent was 15. The news comes amid the uproar over Alfie Patten, who became a father at the age of 13. The couple is in standard 11 and is committed to caring for twin boys Liam and Ryan, who arrived three months prematurely last October.

Sammii, from Southport, Merseyside, said, "I was shocked and upset. I didn't know how to tell my mum."u00a0 That was sorted out by the clinic, who gave her mother Janet Gilbert a call.
Janet said, "My first reaction was shock, especially when they said it was twins. But what can you do? Daniel stayed at our house with Sammii the odd night and of course, it happened. You can't stop young couples when they're courting. If they weren't here they would just go somewhere else."
"After the scan, we were told it was twin girls so it was even more of a shock when Sammii gave birth to boys. I am going to try and be the best father I can," the Daily Express quoted Sargent, as saying.
The tots arrived after only 28 weeks and were immediately put on ventilators with Liam weighing just 3lb and Ryan only 2lb 9oz.
Sammii is also determined to continue her education. We love our sons and we can't wait to get them home from hospital, she said.
The couple attend Meols Cop High School, in the Victorian seaside town of Southport, Merseyside, and started seeing each other when they were 13.

Chantelle Steadman (15), Alfie Patten's (13) girlfriend gave birth to their daughter Maisie Roxanne in the second week of February. "I thought it would be good to have a baby," said Alfie. "I didn't think about how we would afford it. I don't really get pocket money. My father gives me u00a310 (Rs 800) sometimes."
