Modern Family dominated the Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday in a night of surprises and rewards for several newcomers.

The mockumentary about three assorted couples won five trophies, bringing first-time wins for Julie Bowen and her screen husband Ty Burrell in the supporting acting slots.
"Oh my God! Are you kidding me? I don't know what I am going to talk about in therapy now," an astonished Bowen said.
