In just over 10 days, the romantic odyssey had gripped well-wishers from America, Australia and Malaysia.u00a0
u00a0Moffatt, who lives in Durdham Park, Bristol, was travelling home from Cardiff at 7 pm on May 6.
On-board he saw a girl with a blue hair band, sparking the beginning of the search. Chronicling his quest on the website he wrote, "On the train back to Bristol from Cardiff last week, a gorgeous girl in my carriage really caught my eye. We barely spoke but, when she left, I regretted not speaking to her more -- and asking her out."
Moffatt said, "When I was driving home with my mate, I mentioned my regret and he said, 'Well, you know what they say, you're never more than three people away from who you want to know'."u00a0
Love theory
"Half an hour later, and perhaps against my better judgement, I set up this Facebook group to see if my mate's theory was true," heu00a0 added.
By the following evening more than 1,000. Kind-hearted Moffatt then decided to put the interest to use, setting up a JustGiving web page, asking his followers to donate ufffd1 (Rs 66) to Marie Curie Cancer Care. Raising money from his adventure would be "a potentially wonderful outcome to an otherwise rather embarrassingly quest," he reasoned.
So far, he has collected more than ufffd830 (54,700) and attracted 13,324 Facebook followers, despite calling off the search for fear of inviting unwanted attention onto the girl.
