In the first swine flu death case in Bangladesh, a female patient who infected with the influenza A (H1N1) virus died in hospital on Sunday.

In the first swine flu death case in Bangladesh, a female patient who infected with the influenza A (H1N1) virus died in hospital on Sunday.


The patient, Mita Charkrabortee, 37, came from Savar aera, some 30 km northwest of capital Dhaka, and died at 10.30 pm, said Mejba Azad, media coordinator of the Lab Aid hospital where the woman was admitted.


Ahmed added that the patient was admitted into the hospital August 18, and before that she had been out of Savar aera. He didn't know where the patient infected with the H1N1 flu virus. No further details were released by the hospital and the government's health services.


The first case of the H1N1 flu was detected in Bangladesh June 18, and the total number of the H1N1 flu cases in the country as of Saturday was 199.
