A man is trying to escape the chains of matrimony again, this time by filing for divorce after his wife handcuffed herself to him in a bizarre attempt to reconcile.

Sun-sani! Helen Sun has been charged with third-degree assault, disorderly conduct, reckless endangerment and unlawful restraint

Fairfield police say they had to rescue a screaming Robert Drawbough at his home on March 23. According to them, he managed to use his cell phone to call authorities, who found him handcuffed to his wife with bite marks on his torso and arms.

Drawbough filed divorce papers in Court on Tuesday, saying his seven-year marriage to Helen Sun has "broken down irretrievably".

The 37-year-old Sun is charged with third-degree assault, disorderly conduct, reckless endangerment and unlawful restraint.

Sun told police she wanted to have a conversation with Robert Drawbough without him leaving.

On March 23, she changed the locks on their bedroom door and, while he was sleeping, handcuffed herself to him.

Drawbough was able to dial emergency rescue number 911 from his mobile phone. Nearly out of breath, he told dispatchers he woke up handcuffed, was still bound to his wife and was holding her down, according to an audio tape released by the police.

Dispatchers heard Drawbough scream in agony, apparently, as his wife bit him.

Sun's mother said the couple had been married eight years.
