Kabul: Unidentified gunmen shot dead a senior provincial government official in Afghanistan's Wardak province on Friday.

"Pir Mohammad Kuchi, the financial chief of provincial administration, was on way to his office when two unknown gunmen riding a motorbike intercepted his car and opened fire, killing him on the spot," Attaullah Khogiani, spokesman for the provincial government, told reporters.
