Former South African president Nelson Mandela remains in a critical condition, nation on tenterhooks
As the nation prays for the former South African president, Nelson Mandela, the hospital authorities maintain that he still serving on life support system President Jacob Zuma, who visited him in the hospital in Pretoria was informed by the hospital’s medical team that Mandela’s condition will be stable in a couple of days.

u00a0“I cancelled my visit to Mozambique so that I could see him and confer with the doctors. He is much better today than he was when I saw him last night. The medical team continues to do a sterling job,” Zuma said.
A member of Mandela’s family reportedly confirmed that was on life support, raising fears that the anti-apartheid icon might lose the struggle against his long-time illness -- lung infection.
“The Mandela family wish a miracle would happen that he recovers, but at the same time they are aware that there’s a limit to the miracles you can have,” said Holomisa, a longtime friend of the national icon.
Mandela, who was admitted to a Pretoria hospital on June 8 andhas been in critical condition since Sunday.
Obama to meet Mandela’s family
US President Barack Obama arrived on Friday on a three-day official visit in South Africa and also to laud Nelson Mandela for his outstanding contribution to South Africa Stating that Mandela has been a personal inspiration to him, Obama said, “Our thoughts are with Nelson Mandela and his family, and all of South Africa.”
The officials in the White House confirmed that Obama will only visit Mandela’s family and not him claiming that he does not wish to be “obtrusive” when he is in hospital.
