A 5.1-magnitude quake struck the Indonesian island of Flores today, seismologists said, but there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.

The moderate quake hit at 02:16 am (2346 IST Wednesday), 65 km northeast of the city of Ende at a depth of 15 km, the USGS said.

The Indonesian archipelago sits on the Pacific "Ring of Fire," where the meeting of continental plates causes frequent volcanic and seismic activity.
