A Jet Airways flight made an emergency landing in Muscat in Oman over a bomb threat tracked on a Twitter account on Thursday afternoon.

Flight 9W-536 with 54 passengers and 7 crew members, which was flying from Mumbai to Dubai, was diverted to Muscat International Airport after the Mumbai Air Traffic Controllers reportedly told the Muscat ATC about the bomb threat.

The flight, which took off from Mumbai International Airport for Dubai at 12.47 pm, finally landed safely at Muscat at 14.50 hours.

At about 1.31 pm, Balvir Singh Bhatia, General Manager MIAL/GVK, received a threat message from Jet Airways staffer that they had come across a tweet talking about a bomb on the flight posted by a Surinder Pratap of Ludhiana, Punjab.

The tweet read, "BOMB SPOTTED IN JET AIRWAYS 9W 536 FROM MUMBAI TO DUBAI DEP. AT 1225 FROM CSIA.....OPERATION Badala".

Omani security agencies carried out a search of the aircraft, baggage and cargo, according to information received here.

All passengers and crew disembarked without any incident and were taken to the Muscat airport terminal where they will be taken care of till the flight is cleared for take-off.

The airline and airport authorities are also tracking down the Twitter account from where the threat with the specific flight number and take-off time were mentioned, the officials said.
