My playboy days are over, says Berlusconi

Italy's Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi said his playboy days were behind him as he's no longer up to playing Casanova, a womaniser of 18th century.

The 73-year-old media magnate-turned-politician amused the Euromed conference in Milan Monday when he joked that Mediterranean leaders should "bring some good-looking girls over some time".

"I'm not a playboy any more, I'm a 'play old'," said the premier while addressing the forum, attended by 30 ministers from the Mediterranean basin and over 500 businessmen.

"You should ring some good-looking girls over some time. We would appreciate them because we're Latins," he quipped.

The beleaguered prime minister was at the centre of sleaze allegations involving high-class escorts who were invited to parties he hosted. One such prostitute, Patrizia D'Addario, claimed she stayed the night with Berlusconi at his Rome residence in November last year.

Berlusconi's second wife Veronic Lario filed for a multi-million euro divorce after he attended a birthday party in April 2009 of an 18-year-old Naples underwear model, Noemi Letizia, who said she called him "Daddy".

Berlusconi, who cultivates a 'Latin lover' image, has shrugged off the sex scandals, claiming he has never paid a woman for sex or had "improper" relations.
